February negotiations on the merger from Honda failed – Nissan refused to turn into a subsidiary. However, Nissan is still looking for ways to get out of a serious crisis, and he cannot cope without investment from outside. According to sources from Japan, this is also aware of the current head of Nissan Makoto Uchid. Perhaps one of the steps to salvation will be his resignation.

According to insiders, Nissan is considering the possibility of investment from the Japanese colleague-producer: it can be Honda or Mitsubishi. Also on the agenda there is cooperation with Taiwan Foxconn, known as the manufacturer of the iPhone, Xiaomi smartphones and other gadgets.

Honda, in turn, is also ready to work with Nissan. But there is a condition: Uchida must leave the post of general director, which he has been occupied by since 2019.

The top manager himself noted that he would not stand in the way of the transaction if the shareholders decide to resign him. Initially, Uchida was one of the supporters of cooperation, but his relationship with the leadership of Honda has recently worsened.

Today, March 6, Nissan will collect the committee to discuss further actions. The post of Uchida, if they decide to shift it, the current financial director of the company, Jeremy Papin, can take time. Perhaps he will lead a new round of negotiations with Honda.
