The ISEECARS study showed that machines of unusual and bright colors are more slowly than traditional black, white and gray. The leaders in maintaining the value were yellow and orange: such cars over three years of ownership lose an average of 24 percent of the original price or about 13.7 thousand dollars (one million in terms of rubles).
For the same three years, the green car will be cheaper by 26.3 percent or 13.2 thousand dollars, red – by 29.8 percent (13 thousand), blue – by 30.9 percent (13.9 thousand dollars). The average US market rate is 31 percent.
A black car during this time will lose an average of 31.9 percent, and white even more – 32.1 percent. This is equal to 15.4 and 15.5 thousand dollars, respectively.
At the same time, the worst color is golden, experts found out. Cars with such an exterior for three years of ownership are cheaper for 34.4 percent or 16.7 thousand dollars.

However, the fact that a bright car retains the residual cost better does not mean that it is easier to sell. On the contrary, cars of rare colors are less in demand than ordinary ones, and new owners are waiting for longer. But they are more appreciated by a narrow circle of buyers who are looking for special issues or a specific model in a specific shade: such connoisseurs are ready to pay more.
Earlier, experts of the BASF chemical concern recognized the same yellow with the most trendy color of 2024. Its popularity has increased one and a half times. However, the share of such machines in the world is very small – only 1.5 percent. For comparison: white cars counted 34 percent, black – 22, gray – 17 percent.
