In the USA, the perfect “nine hundred and ninety-third” appeared at the Bring & Trailer auction. The convertible has gone through two owners, but has only 279 miles (449 kilometers) on the odometer. The Porsche 993 is being put up for auction for the second time, both times the reserve was not reached. The first time the bet froze at 181 thousand dollars, this time the final mark was 150 thousand dollars.
Seven reboots of legendary cars
The exceptional condition of the convertible is confirmed by documents: there is no information about an accident, no changes in mileage. In 2023, the Porsche 911 underwent a major maintenance with an oil change, fuel filter, fuel pump, spark plugs and tires. Although there are no complaints about the technology, it is unlikely that the future owner will add mileage.

The configuration of the “capsule” Porsche 911 is trivial: it is a Carrera Cabriolet version with a black leather interior, white body and black fabric top. Adding value is Walter Röhrl’s autograph on the gas filler flap and glove compartment. Otherwise, there are no bonuses: relative to the basic version, only sports seats, a Nokia phone and a brake force distribution system were added from the factory.
Under the hood is a naturally-aspirated, air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine typical of the mid-1990s Porsche 911. The unit produces 272 horsepower and 329 Nm of torque. Traction is transmitted to the rear axle through a 6-speed manual transmission. The curb weight of this convertible is only 1.4 tons.
The last “air” Porsche 911 sold for a record amount
The current owner has tried to sell the car at auction twice over the past six months, so there is no doubt that sooner or later the “capsule” Porsche 993 will appear at auction again. The auctioneers do not disclose the amount of the reserve. Perhaps the investor was guided by the crazy result of the latest “airy” Porsche 991, for which they fetched almost 780 thousand dollars.
