Over the past year, Russian motorists were fined in the amount of 176.3 billion rubles, the number of fines themselves exceeded 255 million, Kommersant reports with reference to the data of the State traffic inspectorate. It is clarified that 93 percent of the violations were recorded by road cameras, and Moscow, the Moscow Region and the Republic of Tatarstan became the leaders in number.
According to the traffic police, the increase in the number of fines has slowed somewhat. If in previous years it is 11-17 percent, then in 2024-only 6.2 percent. However, this is still growth, and it is associated with an increase in the country’s fleet. Experts explain the slowdown in no means that the drivers have become law -abiding, but by the reform of the photovideo -fiction system of violations carried out in the fall of last year. As a result of this reform, control over the installation places of the cameras was tightened. That is, some of the complexes established by the rules were dismantled, as a result of which the number of cameras was reduced.
As of September 1, there were 30 thousand photovofixation complexes in Russia. There are no adjusted data after the reform yet.

Of the total number of decisions issued in 2024, 236.7 million in the amount of 149.2 billion rubles was received by vehicle owners. 42.9 million fines were discharged in Moscow, another 41.6 percent-in the Moscow region, 9.3 million in Tatarstan, 8.9 million in St. Petersburg and seven million in the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Most often, drivers exceeded the minimum punishable value-20-40 kilometers per hour. The fine lies in the range from 750 to 7.5 thousand rubles, depending on the exceeding.
