The Chinese crossover has passed the next stage of crash tests by analogy with those conducted by the independent European organization Euro NCAP. This time, Tiggo 9 was subjected to a side impact on a pillar. With such a collision, the load also accounts for the power beams of doors and racks, and due to the small point of contact between the car and the hard pillar, extremely high local stresses and deformations occur.

The crossover moved at a speed of 32 kilometers per hour and hit a motionless object with a diameter of 254 millimeters, directed to the driver’s door – one of the most vulnerable zones. The company itself states that Tiggo 9 coped perfectly: the mannequins in the front seats did not record serious injuries of vital parts of the body, and the passenger compartment retained excellent structural integrity with minimal deformations in the zones of all three racks. The doors remained closed, the retention systems worked synchronously: side, curtain and central airbags opened over milliseconds.

At the same time, the intelligent emergency response system automatically activated the door handles from the opposite side of the impact for evacuation and turned on the alarm. The fuel system remained sealed.

The Chery said that the architecture of the crossover includes two horizontal and three vertical ways of distribution of the load in the frontal clash, six deformation zones and a two -layer side of the side absorption of the blows. In the case of a lateral impact on a pillar, this integrated structure provides high body rigidity with minimal deformation of the cabin.

The Australians conducted crash tests of Chinese crossovers and revealed their weaknesses in Russia two more brands from Cheri Chere will get rid of one of the brands: it is less than two years old

The Tiggo 9 body is 85 percent made of high strength steel, 21 percent of which are hot -stamped elements. In the front zone, a three -layer deformation system with a beam with a width of 1,500 millimeters, 1.6 meters long and 140 millimeters high is used, the task of which is to absorb the energy of the impact.

The system of disconnecting the subframe in the case of a frontal clash is also thought out – it directs power units down to exclude penetration into the salon and create an additional energy absorption zone.

On this Chery Tiggo 9, the entire cycle of internal testing on the Euro NCAP protocols, including a frontal blow at 50 kilometers per hour on a mobile barrier, a side blow of 60 kilometers per hour on a deformable barrier and a frontal blow to a hard obstacle with a 100 percent overlap.
