The general director of the plant Alexei Spirin in an interview with Izvestia said that over three years the number of Russian components in Ulyanovsk all-terrain vehicles increased from 80-85% to 95-96%. The top manager recalled: UAZ had to “import” a number of elements-from engine control units to electrical wiring parts, pipes and fasteners. The nomenclature of domestic spare parts will continue to expand.

Alexey Spirin emphasized that the current models of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant are not at all the same as in 2022. For example, a mechanical gearbox and “handout” are deeply modernized. Domestic airbags will also be about to appear: in the UAZ industrial park, the production of airbags is localized in the full cycle “from raw materials” and casting the steering frames to sewing the pillows themselves and the release of electronic blocks.

What foreign details are included in 4-5% of imports, Alexei Spirin kept silent, but admitted that some Russian decisions “did not go through time.” So far, there are no automatic transmission on UAZ SUVs, although earlier a third of the “patriots” were sold with the French Punch gearbox. The top manager offered to postpone the issue of returning the machine gun until 2026, and on the agenda there is even a two-aeded truck UAZ Profi!

Among the nearest new products of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant is the “pros” with a turbodiesel and a 6-speed “mechanics”: it will appear on sale in the second quarter. In the summer, UAZ is localized by the production of Sollers ST9 and JAC T9 pickups. And in November, a deeply modernized “patriot” will debut with another appearance, salon, engine and gearbox.
