Renault announced the departure of Luke de Meo, a leader who headed the concern for almost five years. The company’s press release is stingy: the board of directors thanked the top manager for the transformation of the Renault Group and decided that the Italian would continue to act until July 15, 2025. The newspaper Le Figaro has already found out that Luke de Meo will go into the world of fashion and lead the Kering group.

As the head of Renault Group, Luke de Meo managed to leave a mark in the Russian automobile industry. The top manager became the co-author of the Renaulution strategy, which implied the unification of LADA and the Romanian Dacia. The plan of the French concern suggested a complete transition of AvtoVAZ to the “global” CMF-B platform, and they wanted to completely get rid of old models by 2025.

They could, but failed: Renault Vel Satis could be the luxurious Renault with the V8 motor Forgotten concepts: Renault Eolab

The Renaulution plan broke in 2022, and the Lada ISKRA will be the only AvtoVAZ product on the alliance platform (in the “imported” form). In the new position of Luke de Meo, it is hardly intersecting with the auto industry: Kering management means patronage over the brands Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga and so on. Whoever replaces the Italian at the Renault steering wheel has not yet been reported.

The change of power in Renault can provoke another “revolution”, because at one time Luke de Meo radically changed the strategy of the French automaker. Five years have no problems less: on the agenda and reduction of expenses, and the distribution of roles in the alliance, and the expansion of cooperation with Geely.
