Sales of the electric Toyota Hilux BEV with all-wheel drive, fast charging and a range of 315 kilometers have started in Australia. This is the first electric pickup truck in the history of the model, which took the top line in price. Carscoops reports this.
The electric Hilux is available only in SR5 trim – the Rogue and Rugged X versions do not have electric drive. The pickup price is $56,900 (approximately 4.6 million rubles), making it the most expensive Hilux on the Australian market.
The price of the electric Hilux SR5 exceeds the diesel version by 13 thousand dollars (about 1 million rubles) and the top-end hybrid Rugged X by 7.5 thousand dollars (about 611 thousand rubles). Moreover, the starting price of the new product was higher than that of the Ford Ranger Super Duty, which reflects Toyota’s ambitious positioning.
For this money, the buyer gets a dual-motor all-wheel drive with 193 hp. and 468 Nm of torque. The Hilux BEV is equipped with Multi-Terrain Select with six driving modes, so its off-road capabilities are in order.

Hilux is not just a pickup truck, but a symbol of the car’s indestructibility. Since 1968, the model has earned a reputation as a machine that does not break down at all. The legendary status of the car was also largely popularized by the hosts of the British show Top Gear: a 1988 pickup truck was drowned in the sea, burned, dropped from a height, and in the end it drove under its own power to the studio.
Hilux dominates sales in Australia, Africa and the Middle East due to its simplicity, body-on-frame design and superior liquidity. This is a workhorse and at the same time a cult object for off-road tuning.
