The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant has planned to improve the five-speed “mechanics”, which is installed on “Patriot”, “Pickup” and “Profi”. This was reported by the corporate newspaper “Panorama UAZ”. Engineers have found a way to reduce the pressure inside the box, eliminate oil leaks and generally increase the reliability of the unit. The improved box is going to be put into production at the beginning of 2025.

As part of the improvements, an additional layer of sealant will be applied to the lower part of the gearshift mechanism. This should improve the seal and eliminate leaks. The mechanism rod will be equipped with additional rings: this will provide better fixation of the cuff and increase the reliability of the box as a whole.

In addition, a breather will be installed on the side cover – a valve designed to relieve excess pressure that is formed during operation of the unit.

Details of the UAZ Patriot restyling have become known. A new UAZ with a unique body was photographed in Cuba. The timing of UAZ vehicle updates has been revealed.

All these manipulations are designed to improve the Chinese BAIC box, which has been installed on Patriots, Pickups and Pros since 2022. Before this – since 2005 – SUVs were equipped with a more expensive five-speed Dymos gearbox made in South Korea.

In 2025, the Patriot’s assortment, which will undergo an update, will include a new six-speed manual transmission. This is a JAC box, the production of which was launched under license at the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant (ZMZ) Sollers.
