The car manufacturer said that the plans for restructuring in the issue of personnel reduction are ahead of schedule. They wanted to reduce the staff by 35 thousand by 2030, but with 20 thousand employees they already managed to agree: they will leave the company voluntarily. At the weekend, the auto giant allocated 900 million euros, and these funds made it possible to reach agreements with most factory workers.
We are talking about reductions in Germany, and in the interests of Volkswagen not to confront with trade unions. Therefore, they acted “socially acceptable” methods: with the employees they agreed on an early or planned retirement, as well as the termination of contracts by agreement of the parties. Now 120 thousand people work at Volkswagen factories, that is, by 2030 they will get rid of 29% of employees.

The ultimate goal of the transformation is to unload production capacities by 700 thousand units, because it is impractical to produce so many cars in Germany. Success with personnel reduction show that Volkswagen follows the restructuring plan. The employees were addressed by the financial director of the corporation David Powels, who stated the need to solve the problems of “excessive investments, low profitability of electric vehicles and too high a break -in -line.”
Since 2027, the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg will switch to a four -day working week. The head of the production council Daniel Kavallo made it clear that in the coming years, earnings in factories could be reduced and urged workers to take additional shifts so far is possible.
