Volkswagen showed the Scout Traveler Pacific Mist concept with a luggage rack

The Scout brand, revived under the wing of the German concern, in the Scout Traveler Pacific Mist concept car clearly showed in which direction its model range will develop. The concept originally debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year, and now a modified version is being shown.

The main feature of the concept is the Pacific Mist multi-layer paintwork. It can change color from silver in cloudy weather to deep blue in bright sunshine. When choosing this color, the designers took inspiration from the fog rising over the cliffs of the Pacific coast of California.

The modified concept also features 22-inch black wheels with BF Goodrich off-road tires with an outer diameter of 35 inches. The car has a black roof and door handles, as well as an unusual backpack-shaped external trunk. It replaces the spare wheel on the tailgate and has two waterproof storage compartments. Scout directly hints that this accessory has every chance of going into mass production.

The interior of the Traveler Pacific Mist has also been redesigned. The seats are upholstered in a combination of brown leather and denim at the top of the seats. The steering wheel trim is also two-tone, black and brown.

The technical characteristics of the show car have not been disclosed, but the Harvester inscription on its body indicates the use of a hybrid power plant with an extended power reserve, and this is no coincidence. Among the 150,000 customers who pre-ordered the Scout vehicles (Terra pickup truck and Traveler SUV), as many as 85% chose the hybrid version rather than the all-electric version. The internal combustion engine on the hybrid acts as a generator to recharge the 63-kilowatt traction battery. The total range of such a car reaches 805 km.
