Volvo will give up the station wagons

They will be replaced by crossovers and sedans, who not only are more popular, but can also be positioned in different ways. A new grocery approach can lead to the fact that in the lineup of the Swedish brand there will appear “charged” derivatives similar to Audi RS and BMW M.

In the future, Volvo can completely abandon the production of station wagons, replacing them with different versions of crossovers and extra -ardric models like the new ES90. This was in an interview with Auto Express magazine was stated by the Chief Executive Director of Volvo Cars Jim Rowen. The fault of the preferences of customers is to blame. It becomes expensive to bring new models to the market, so they see the way out in all kinds of derivatives. An example is the Black and Cross Country version, which have a great friend from a friend and, accordingly, the target audience.

Volvo quietly closed the subscription to cars, despite the success of the Volvo service, abandoned the idea of a complete switching to electric cars, and this is why the updated Volvo XC90 is presented

Robert Dean, commercial director of Volvo UK, adheres to the opposite point of view. In his opinion, it was a big mistake to stop selling V60 and V90 models in the UK for a whole year only because the demand for them fell by 5-10%. “When you tell the buyer that there are no station wagons, he just leaves and buys from others.” As a result, competitors win: BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and, of course, Volkswagen, who sold the station wagons in 2024.

However, without the new five -doors, 2025 for Volvo will be saturated. Three premieres are planned. One of them is the ES90 electric liftback. It will be followed by the EX60 crossover on the new SPA3 platform and a certain hybrid for the Chinese market, which, according to unofficial information, will be based on the architecture of CMA and divide the technique with LyNK & CO 08.
