Volvo will recall 40 thousand EX30 electric vehicles due to the risk of battery fire

The service promotion covers the Single-Motor Extended Range (with increased power reserve) and Twin-Motor Performance versions. The recall campaign will cost nearly $200 million.

The problematic batteries were produced by Geely’s joint venture, Shandong Geely Sunwoda Power Battery Co. While the exact nature of the defect has not been revealed, it is known to be related to high charge levels. The company says the problem has already been fixed in production.

All owners of vehicles affected by the recall campaign are strongly recommended to limit the battery charge to 70% before visiting the service center. This is a temporary measure, which, according to Volvo, will completely eliminate the risk of fire.

Additionally, drivers are advised to park their vehicles outdoors, away from buildings and other vehicles.

Previously, two Jeland crossovers were certified in Russia.
