At an age when many people give up active driving, 85-year-old Florida resident William Bosworth, according to authorities, staged a race in his Nissan 350Z convertible. He is accused of driving a Chevrolet Corvette at speeds of up to 110 mph and faces charges of street racing and speeding. Carscoops reports this.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on the night of June 12 on State Road 48. Officers observed a red Corvette and a gray Nissan 350Z traveling side by side at high speeds in a 45 mph zone. Police say the Corvette reached 125 mph and Bosworth’s Nissan reached 110 mph. Both vehicles were stopped separately.
Bosworth has denied the race allegations. In body camera video released by WECT, he calmly explains that the Corvette suddenly swerved in his direction and he was just “riding” in his favorite car. Most tellingly, Bosworth says he has owned this Nissan 350Z since it was purchased new.
