A cheap minivan from SAIC and General Motors has entered the Chinese market

We have started accepting orders for the Wuling Zhiguang EV Combi, a passenger van in the kei car format with a 3.7-meter body, sliding doors and four seats. A multifunctional new product with a modest finish and a 41-horsepower electric motor costs only 47,800 yuan (669.8 thousand rubles) in the “base”. This is cheaper than the starting price of Lada Granta.

Wuling Zhiguang EV is the product of a joint venture between SAIC and the American General Motors. It has one electric motor mounted on the rear axle, sliding rear doors and four seats in the cabin.

The rear bench can be folded down to increase cargo space to 1,117 litres. Its minimum volume is 527 liters, which is impressive considering the dimensions: 3.7 meters long, 1.53 meters wide and 1.75 meters high. The wheelbase is 2.6 meters. The height of the tailgate is 569 millimeters, which makes loading and unloading easier.

The interior is designed simply: a small LCD dashboard screen is installed in front; There is no multimedia system – the MP3 player is responsible for entertainment, and the air conditioning is responsible for the climate. But the interior space of the Wuling Zhiguang EV can be easily adjusted to suit different needs. There are 20 threaded holes for mounting compartments, racks and partitions.

In the future, Wuling will release a longer-range Zhiguang EV with a replaceable 42-kilowatt-hour battery from CATL.
