In November 2021, the McLaren 720S Spider was imported from Lithuania, stating that the cost of the car was 17,990 euros. During a customs check, the real price turned out to be much higher – 261,579 euros. After this, an investigation began, and then a trial took place.
The court found a man who tried to import a car guilty of attempted evasion of customs duties on a large scale, committed by a group of people. He was given a fine of 300 basic units (12.6 thousand Belarusian rubles or 340 thousand Russian rubles).
The Spider was confiscated. Now the Service and Trade Republican Unitary Enterprise “TRADE HOUSE “EAST”” of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus has announced an auction. The initial cost of the supercar is 1,041,444 rubles – that’s 28 million Russian rubles.
The V8 4.0 biturbo engine develops 720 hp. The acceleration time to 100 km/h is 2.9 seconds, and 22.4 seconds after the start, the McLaren 720S Spider reaches 300 km/h. With the top up, the spider can reach speeds of up to 341 km/h.
Like all McLaren cars, the 720S Spider has a carbon fiber monocoque, making it the lightest car in its class. The open version was released from 2018 to 2022.
