Lamborghini CEO Stefan Winkelmann said: the Italian brand’s lineup today lacks the two-door Gran Turismo, the body with which the history of the brand began. Such a car will appear in the near future, and the Lanzador concept will serve as a prototype.
“When we considered the possibility of a fourth model, we checked all segments, as well as sub-segments in which we are not present,” Stefan Winkelmann told reporters.
Lamborghini’s first products were the elegant 350 GT and 400 GT Gran Turismos. In 2014, the company presented a concept of a similar format, called Asterion, but it did not reach serial production.

The fact that Lamborghini was working on a fourth model became known 3 years ago, when the company presented the Lanzador concept. It was initially assumed that the model would receive an electric powertrain.
But in the spring of this year the plans were adjusted. It has been revealed that the Lanzador will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain similar to the rest of the current Lamborghini lineup.
