A rare Nissan GT-R was put up for auction in Japan for 65 million rubles

The car is one of only 19 ever built, Carscoops reports.

When Nissan and Italdesign’s GT-R50 debuted, no one believed the concept would make it beyond the show floor. However, the model still received a limited production run, and now one of the copies will be auctioned in Japan.

The GT-R50 was created as a limited edition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the GT-R and Italdesign. The stated circulation was 50 copies, but the reality turned out to be different. Production was stopped ahead of schedule, and, according to available data, a total of 19 cars were produced.

The reason for this was pandemic disruptions in production and the price of about a million dollars (approximately 73 million rubles) – finding so many buyers for such a budget turned out to be difficult. And this is not surprising: the regular R35 GT-R Nismo offered supercar performance for less than a quarter of that amount, and the base GT-R cost just $115,000.

Despite retaining the chassis, body and powertrain from the GT-R NISMO, the production GT-R50 became a completely different car. A lowered roof, revised proportions, new panels – changes affected almost the entire exterior. And of course, the blue exposed carbon finish is something special.

But not only the appearance has changed – the technology has also been seriously redesigned. The 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 was boosted to 710 hp using turbochargers from the GT3, a larger intercooler and a modified transmission. Completing the look are heavy-duty transmission components, a Bilstein suspension built specifically for this model, and 21-inch carbon fiber wheels.
