The pilot who landed an Airbus in a wheat field and saved lives has taken a job as a taxi driver to support his family. This was reported by the Mash Telegram channel.
“Eduard Semenov told Mash that after the emergency landing of the Airbus A320, he and Belov (co-pilot) were greeted as heroes, but then problems began. In 2023, after an inspection by the Federal Air Transport Agency and the initiation of a criminal case, his partner left Ural Airlines of his own free will. Edward decided to fight to the end. Then he faced moral pressure from his superiors – they, according to him, urgently asked him to resign,” the publication says.
According to the channel, at that time the man was paid a salary of 16 thousand rubles, so in order to feed his three children, he had to earn extra money as a taxi driver and loader.
It is also reported that the pilot needed to undergo retraining, a theoretical exam and a medical examination, but due to stress, the man’s condition worsened, and doctors declared him unfit to fly. In 2025, Eduard was fired; for almost a year he tried to get a job in other companies, but failed. Now the man continues to work as a taxi driver, while continuing to send his resume.
