Audi introduced the new RS5 and RS5 Avant

The RS5 family was the first plug-in hybrid to be created by the RS sports division. Auto.ru reports this.

The premiere of the new generation of Audi RS5 took place – the RS5 Avant liftback and station wagon. The models received a rechargeable hybrid unit with a capacity of 639 hp, which is immediately 109 hp superior to the most powerful BMW M3 Competition. The dynamics are impressive: acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3.6 seconds, top speed is limited to 285 km/h.

The power plant of the new RS5 is built on the basis of a 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 (510 hp) and a 177-horsepower electric motor, which is powered by a battery with a capacity of 25.9 kWh. A full charge is enough for a clean electric boat to last 80 km. You can restore energy to 100% in 2.5 hours.

The new Audi RS5 is equipped with an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and a central limited slip differential, which redistributes torque between the axles in a ratio from 70:30 to 15:85. In addition, the RS5 and RS5 Avant became the first production models to receive an electromechanical traction distribution system between the rear wheels. Instead of traditional locking, a planetary gear with a water-cooled electric motor is used here. Traction control data is updated every 5 milliseconds.

The liftback and station wagon are equipped with RS suspension with separate compression and rebound adjustment, 20 and 21-inch wheels with special tires, as well as steel or ceramic brakes. The Audi Driving Experience function has been added to the database, which analyzes in detail the routes traveled and records statistics of track sessions, right down to the skid angle. All data is displayed on the 14.5-inch central screen.

Serial production of the Audi RS5 and RS5 Avant was launched in Neckarsulm, Germany. The start of accepting orders is planned for the first quarter of 2026, and the first deliveries are expected in the summer.
