Audi shares the first image of the new A2 electric car

The premiere of the new product, which is intended to replace the A1 and Q2 models on the assembly line, will take place in the fall of 2026, probably at the Munich Motor Show. Carscoops reports this.

The new A2 is radically different from its predecessor, an advanced but commercially not very successful compact van of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Now it is an all-electric urban crossover, built on Volkswagen’s modular MEB platform, which unifies it with models such as the Volkswagen ID.3.

The MEB platform features a 400-volt electrical architecture (no ultra-fast charging capabilities), familiar technologies, and multiple power options. Unlike the original A2 with its expensive aluminum body, the new one will be made of steel, which should significantly reduce production costs.

The published image refers to the appearance of the first model: sloping roof line, spoiler. However, judging by the spy photos, the new car will be significantly wider. Inside, expect a minimalistic and technological design with large screens, like in older Audi models.

The expected cost of the basic version will be less than € 35 thousand (3.2 million rubles at the exchange rate at the time of publication). Production will be established at the main plant in Ingolstadt.

As such, Audi is betting on a compact and relatively affordable electric vehicle to attract new audiences and strengthen its position in the segment.

Earlier, the most popular crossovers that Russians are driving from China became known.
