Audi’s new body-on-frame SUV will arrive in 2030

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner made it clear that the company is seriously considering the possibility of creating a full-fledged off-road SUV that will compete with the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Land Rover Defender. According to Autocar, when asked directly about such a model at the conference, the head of the brand advised not to give up on this dream.

Döllner emphasized that the potential of the brand allows the implementation of a project of any scale. He said Audi is capable of producing everything from affordable entry-level electric vehicles to sports cars and SUVs with strong off-road capabilities. According to him, much can be expected from the company in the future.

According to the publication, the future SUV can be built on a frame platform, which is initially being developed for the Scout line in the USA.

Rumors about the possible appearance of a frame SUV in the Audi range have been circulating for years. Back in 2023, representatives of the brand noted that such a model would organically fit into the brand’s lineup, closing a segment where Audi is not yet represented. It is noteworthy that the company’s current chief designer, Massimo Fraschella, previously worked on the current Land Rover Defender.

Earlier, the most popular crossovers that Russians are driving from China became known.
