Auto expert Revin listed the 5 main causes of squeaking in a car suspension

According to the specialist, most often the problem occurs when driving over uneven surfaces, swaying the body or turning the steering wheel, reports Za Rulem.

The expert calls anti-roll bar bushings one of the most common reasons. On almost all cars, the stabilizer bar is attached to the body through rubber bushings, which dry out and wear out over time, allowing the bar to rotate inside – this causes squeaking.

The stabilizer struts, in which two small ball joints are usually installed, can also creak – when they wear out, they sometimes begin to creak, although more often they make a knock.

Another dangerous element is ball joints. You can diagnose them by holding the support with your hand and asking an assistant to rock the car, and the expert warns that the defect in the ball joint is dangerous and should not be delayed in eliminating it.

The thrust bearings of the shock absorber struts manifest themselves as a squeak when turning the steering wheel, which is clearly audible when the hood is open, and an additional symptom is vibration felt by the palm applied to the top of the strut.

Finally, the cause of the squeak can be silent blocks (rubber-metal bearings), where the sound occurs due to loosening of the fastening – you can pay attention to this place by streaks of rust.

The specialist emphasizes that some of the listed faults require immediate repair, while others allow you to postpone a visit to the service, but do not cancel it.
