Auto expert Vinogradov named the advantages and disadvantages of the new Haval Jolion

The updated car received a new engine, a redesigned interior, and at the same time retained affordable prices. Since 2021, almost 250 thousand copies of this model have been collected.

The key change is the upgraded 1.5-liter H4B15L turbo engine. Power remained the same (150 hp), but torque increased by 40 Nm, to 270 Nm. Thanks to this, acceleration to “hundreds” became almost a second faster. The engine is assembled in the Tula region, and it is also installed on the Haval H3, noted “Behind the Wheel” expert Alexander Vinogradov.

An important nuance: the new engine is only available for versions with all-wheel drive. Front-wheel drive Jolions are still equipped with the old 143-horsepower turbo engine with multipoint injection.

The robotic gearbox remains the same, but its settings have become better: pauses have disappeared, the response to the gas pedal has become clearer. The transition to the Euro-6 environmental standard has reduced the risk of detonation when using AI-92 gasoline, but the expert does not recommend getting carried away with cheap fuel.

There’s a new thick steering wheel inside, but not everyone will like it. A traditional gearbox joystick is also installed, which replaced the inconvenient washer. A rotating volume control appeared.

The multimedia and dashboard screens are the same in size, but have received new software, similar to the systems on the GWM and Haval H5 pickups. Voice control has been added.

The basic version of Jolion Comfort with front-wheel drive and manual transmission costs from 2 million rubles. The most affordable all-wheel drive option starts from 2.6 million rubles. The top-end configuration of Techno+ is estimated at 2.9 million rubles, Vinogradov noted.
