This second-generation car, produced from 2017 to 2022, is essentially a technical copy of the popular Nissan X‑Trail (T32 series) with a modified exterior design and original interior.
The main advantage of the model is that it is almost in no way inferior to the donor Nissan, but spare parts for it are often a little cheaper. The advantages also include a high level of safety (5 stars Euro NCAP) and an impressive ground clearance of 210 mm. The trunk volume is 565 liters – more than the X‑Trail.
The car was equipped only with Jatco CVTs (JF016E for gasoline versions and JF017E for diesel). Their service life strongly depends on operating conditions: with careful maintenance, they can cover 200-250 thousand km, but regular loads (off-road, towing) can kill the box by 150 thousand km. Repairs may turn out to be unprofitable – it’s easier to look for a contract unit.
Due to the above nuance and the general unpopularity of the model, it is more difficult to resell Koleos than many of its classmates.
The Koleos chassis is very durable. Up to 60-80 thousand km, usually only the stabilizer strut and bushing require attention. The main problems are concentrated in the electrics: tire pressure sensors, failures of heated seats and the heater motor are often annoying, and in winter, folding mirrors can freeze. Pre-restyling cars (until 2019) have capricious electronic parking brakes.
