As of January 1, 2026, 32.7 million cars older than 10 years were registered in the Russian Federation. Such data was obtained by experts from the Autostat agency during the preparation of the report “Vehicle fleet in the Russian Federation as of 01/01/2026.”

“Cars produced in 2015 or earlier (more than 10 years ago) account for 69% of the total fleet. Accordingly, the remaining 31% are cars that have a production year from 2016 and later (up to 10 years inclusive). At the beginning of this year, 14.72 million units were registered,” the publication says.

A detailed analysis of the age structure of the vehicle fleet shows: “fresh” cars (up to 3 years old) account for only 7.9% – that’s 3.7 million units. Cars aged 4−7 years (2019−2022 production) occupy a share of 13.2% (6.3 million units). Another 9.9% or 4.7 million cars are in the age category of 8-10 years. The total number of passenger cars in Russia at the beginning of 2026 reached 47.5 million units.
