Chinese premium automaker Hongqi has officially unveiled a new hybrid platform called Honghu. According to the brand, its key advantages are high energy efficiency and increased power reserve. This was reported by the analytical publication Autostat with reference to the company’s press service.
One of the modifications of the platform allows you to travel up to 170 kilometers exclusively on electric power. It only takes 13-14 minutes to charge the battery from 20% to 80% with super-fast charging.
The high overall efficiency of the power plant is achieved due to the efficiency of the electric motor and transmission. The hybrid system also includes a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a record thermal efficiency of 45.21%, which adds up to a claimed fuel consumption of around 3.75L/100km on the CLTC cycle.
In an all-wheel drive version with three units (internal combustion engine and two electric motors), a car on this platform can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds.
The platform is equipped with an intelligent energy management system that independently selects the optimal driving mode to save fuel. The system is adapted to work in extreme conditions, including frosts down to -40 °C.
Particular attention is paid to battery safety. The high-voltage battery has received extended protection from water and is able to withstand prolonged immersion, puncture, squeezing and exposure to open fire. Additional control is provided by a cloud-based monitoring system that monitors battery status in real time.
The first production model based on Honghu was the Hongqi HS6 PHEV crossover. The company also announced the start of mass production of a key component of the platform – a power battery designed with a focus on ultra-fast charging and multi-level protection.
Earlier it was reported that the price of the Hongqi H9 sedan has risen unprecedentedly in Russia.
