In the first four months of 2026, 9,288 used passenger cars (over three years old) were imported from South Korea to Russia. This is 59.4% less than in the same period last year, when the supply volume was 22,855 units. The head of the analytical agency Avtostat, Sergei Tselikov, reported this on his Telegram channel.
“This is primarily due to the introduction of a commercial recycling fee for cars with a capacity of over 160 hp. They were the basis of imports to Russia. The selection of interesting low-power cars in Korea is not as large as in China. Accordingly, there was a reorientation of import channels,” the expert said.
According to him, more than half of all Korean secondary imports are cars of local brands: Kia (31.2%), Hyundai (17.5%), Samsung (8.5%) and Korean-assembled Chevrolet (7.8%). European brands include Volkswagen (7.8%), BMW (7%), Mini (5.1%), Mercedes-Benz (4%), Audi (2.9%) and others.
