Autostat named 10 cars that were not affected by the abolition of the preferential recycling fee

After December 1, 2025, when a government decree abolishing the preferential recycling tax on cars with a capacity of up to 160 hp imported by citizens for personal use came into force, the leaders in this market segment were Mazda, Skoda, Kia, Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen and Hyundai. The model range of these brands included cars with engines of suitable power.

“It turns out that among these brands there are interesting ones that offer preferential “scrap” models. Much has already been written about the undisputed leader of this segment, the Mazda CX-5. Everything is clear here – more than a quarter of alternative imports came from this model,” wrote Sergei Tselikov, general director of the analytical agency Autostat, in his Telegram channel.

He pointed out that based on the results of December 2025 and January 2026, in the structure of private import of new passenger cars (under three years of age), the Mazda CX-5 crossover accounts for more than 27% of the total volume, and the Skoda Superb – 7%. This is followed by the Toyota Camry sedan, which accounts for 5.2%, the Kia Seltos (4.7%) and Volkswagen Tharu crossovers (3.3%).

The second five most imported based on the results of the two months that passed after the abolition of the preferential recycling fee for cars with more than 160 hp included Nissan Qashqai, Honda Vezel, Hyundai Tucson and Elantra, as well as Skoda Karoq. These models accounted for from 1.4% to 3%.

At the same time, more than 74% of cars with a power of up to 160 hp. As part of alternative imports, they are supplied to Russia from China.

Earlier it became known that the Mitsuoka sedan with a retro design would be discontinued in Japan.
