“Avtostat”: the Russian car market retained sixth place in the European championship

As experts from the Autostat agency found out, having familiarized themselves with data from the GlobalData company, the leader in the sale of cars in the mat became the UK with 380,627 cars sold, which is 6.6% more than in the same month last year, and in February the British market was only fifth.

Germany remained in second place with a result of 294 thousand units (+16%), Italy took third place with 185.3 thousand units (+7.6%), France is in fourth position with 173.6 thousand units (+12.9%), and Spain closes the top five, whose March volume was 130.3 thousand units (+11.7%).

If we take Russia into account when considering the European car market, then our country remained in sixth position: according to PPK JSC, in March 2026, 104.2 thousand new passenger cars were sold in the Russian Federation – 30.6% more than a year ago.

Deputy Head of the Analytics Department of the Autostat agency Dmitry Yarygin notes that among all the represented car markets, it was the Russian one that showed the best dynamics in early spring, and also for the first time in the last three months overcame the 100 thousand car mark.
