AvtoVAZ has resumed assembly of Vesta SW, but so far only with a CVT

As a result of monitoring price lists on the website lada.ru, it turned out that the plant began producing two-pedal station wagons with a 1.6-liter engine. Opposite the two modifications of Vesta SW, the “not produced” marking has disappeared. In mid-December, AvtoVAZ stopped the assembly of all flagship station wagons due to a cooling market; then came the two-week New Year holidays.

From the current price list of Lada Vesta SW we can conclude that there are only two modifications out of ten on the conveyor. Both are combined with a CVT and a 106-horsepower 1.6-liter engine in the Comfort’24 and Life’24 versions. Prices are the same: 1,705,000 and 1,806,000 rubles, respectively. Production was paused in mid-December: then the plant stopped producing all Vesta station wagons and top-end cross-versions.

The head of AvtoVAZ explained the stoppage of production by the implementation of the plan for 2024 and the degradation of the Russian car market due to the high key rate. The top manager made it clear that in the current economic situation it is not advisable to release cars into storage. Maxim Sokolov complained that the Chinese auto industry “has brought a large amount of inventory,” which will not be sold until the second quarter.

At the end of January, the Lada Vesta range should be replenished with new versions with a Chinese 6-speed manual transmission. The premiere of the flagship with a different gearbox is expected to take place on January 27. The transmission will be combined with a naturally aspirated 1.8 Evo engine.
