AvtoVAZ told how the Renault alliance restrained Lada’s development

On the air of the Moscow FM radio station, the head of the press service of the auto giant Sergey Ilyinsky admitted that foreign shareholders adhered to restrictions on the Russian brand before leaving. The representative of AvtoVAZ described the actions of Renault as attempts to contain the Lada brand: domestic machines were supposed to play the role of the “entrance ticket” to the French Alliance.

Sergei Ilyinsky made it clear that LADA cars lost some electronic “chips”, more modern equipment, so as not to compete in Russia with Renault models. The alliance also limited LADA export: in some markets, AvtoVAZ products should not have appeared so as not to compete with the Dacia brand. Now there are no such restrictions.

AvtoVAZ appreciated how the labor productivity without Renault has changed the head of AvtoVAZ called ISKRA with a new flagship Lada, and this is why AvtoVAZ first proposed with a discount “for his” not only LADA

The representative of AvtoVAZ emphasized that although the “global” CMF-B platform is based on the LADA ISKRA, 400 new components have appeared, so the localization of the chassis and electronic systems is one hundred percent, and it is impossible to stop production by non-residents. It was possible to achieve “import substitution” due to partial unification with Lada Vesta.

The recent export conference of AvtoVAZ in the United Arab Emirates gathered representatives of 38 countries. For comparison in 2024, LADA products were exported to 20 countries, and about 20 thousand cars were sent abroad. This year, AvtoVAZ is aimed at increasing supplies abroad to 30 thousand units.
