“Behind the wheel” listed 3 budget cross-station wagons with mileage up to 1.8 million rubles

Journalist of the publication Alexander Vinogradov chose models in the same price segment that can compete with Russian cars with a similar body.

Based on the results of the comparison, the Volvo V40 Cross Country 2015-2016 was recognized as the unexpected leader. This premium car turned out to be the freshest of the three and the closest to the Lada Iskra in size. Its gasoline turbo engine (152 hp) is considered reliable, although experts advise regularly changing the fluid in the variator every 60 thousand kilometers and monitoring the cooling system. The main drawback is the lack of all-wheel drive.

Second place went to the first generation Subaru XV (2016−2017) with a 2-liter boxer engine (150 hp) and a CVT. The model is valued for its reliable all-wheel drive, but you have to put up with oil burns from the first kilometers, cheap interior materials and thin paint. The CVT requires strict fluid changes every 60 thousand kilometers.

The third was the Skoda Octavia Scout, produced around 2014, with a 1.8 turbo engine (180 hp) and a DSG DQ250 robot, which is considered reliable. The main problem is the age of the car and potentially high mileage. Experts advise checking the engine for antifreeze leaks and the condition of the timing chain, and also changing the fluid in the Haldex coupling every 60 thousand kilometers.
