Behind the wheel: owners are selling Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, fearing problems with the gearbox

Owners are trying to part with the crossover before the mileage reaches 100 thousand kilometers, fearing problems with the variator, failures of the ABS unit and accelerated wear of the steering rods. The magazine “Behind the Wheel” reports this.

Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is one of the leaders in the secondary market in terms of the number of offers and stable demand. Models from 2020-2023 with a mileage of up to 100 thousand kilometers start at 1.1 million rubles. Owners try to sell a mid-size crossover at just 100 km, after which costly repairs may be required. The editor of “Behind the Wheel” Sergei Zinoviev spoke about the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro on the secondary market.

“The SQRE4T15C 1.5 engine (147 hp) is good – the expected service life is 400 thousand km. Because the block here is cast iron, and the injection is distributed. Fuel – AI 92, there are hydraulic compensators. The timing chain drive is extremely durable, the turbocharger lasts over 200 thousand km,” noted the auto expert.

According to him, the weak link is the variator, similar to the famous Japanese Jatco JF016E. Owners also complain about failures of the ABS unit and accelerated wear of steering rods. The expert recommends that before purchasing a used Tiggo 7 Pro, you carefully diagnose the variator and set aside a budget for its possible repairs in the near future.
