We are talking about cars produced between June 9, 2022 and December 5, 2025. This was reported by the DPA agency with reference to data from the Federal Motor Transport Administration of Germany (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt, KBA).
The recall affects 337,374 vehicles worldwide. These are the i5, i7, M5, as well as the 5th and 7th series. Of these, 29,441 cars will go to services in Germany.
On February 11, Bild reported that a serious malfunction was discovered in BMW cars. In Germany alone, 28 thousand cars were subject to recall. However, the global scope of the campaign could be much wider. The problem, as engineers found out, lies in the electronics: when starting the engine, a short circuit is possible, which in some cases can lead to a fire.
The service promotion included the BMW 2 Series Coupe, various modifications of the 3rd, 4th and 5th series, the 6th Series Gran Turismo, the 7th Series Limousine, as well as the X4, X5, X6 crossovers and the Z4 roadster. The specialized publication kfz-Betrieb named the specific number of recalled cars – 575 thousand copies, but BMW has not yet officially confirmed it.
