Since the beginning of this year, analysts have recorded an increase in demand for cars of brands that have officially left Russia. These are, first of all, Mazda, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen. The head of the Autostat agency, Sergei Tselikov, explained what could be causing the surge in sales.
“In the near future, the growth in imports and sales of cars from global brands will continue. But the dynamics will slow down compared to the same period last year,” notes Sergei Tselikov.
The analyst believes that the introduction of the 160 hp level. the preferential recycling fee created the feeling that soon “the curtain will completely close” and it will become even more expensive to buy a familiar brand of car.
In addition, at the beginning of last year the concept of “waiting” was formed. Then, in the wake of the start of negotiations with the US authorities, it seemed that global brands would soon return.
Experts previously interviewed by Motor magazine also agreed that the current surge in demand for cars of brands that have left the Russian Federation is temporary and is due to a combination of factors.
The equipment mainly comes from China, such as the new generation Toyota RAV4. The cars are coming not from Japan or even from Europe, but from the FAW-Toyota joint venture in China.
