BMW at Le Mans showed what the M line of sports cars will look like

BMW held the world premiere of the M Neue Klasse concept at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This is not just a beautiful show car: the appearance of future production M models, including the electric M3, will be as close as possible to its appearance.

The main feature is the new “Track Lights”. These are square LED blocks protruding from the front bumper. Their design was transferred to the conceptual Emka from the updated M Hybrid V8 hybrid hypercar. In the concept, the same luminous blocks are located at the back, along the edges. It has not yet been specified whether they will work as additional daytime running lights or as fog lights, but production “charged” BMWs will definitely receive them. The first is the electric M3, which is expected to debut next year.

Another feature is M Yellow Lights. Yellow lights in the head optics have already flashed on special versions of the CS, but are now becoming a full-fledged insignia of all future M-models. Again, like a racing hybrid.

The designers did not forget about the radiator grille. Inside it is a volumetric backlight, referencing the appearance of the BMW M logo. According to M design head Michael Sculley, the play of light creates the illusion of narrower “nostrils”.

The concept itself has been dubbed the new bright red color Monza Red Metallic. The interior features bucket seats with five-point harnesses, carbon trim and black suede on the steering wheel. The car is driven by 400 electric motors, the traction battery capacity is more than 100 kWh, and the car is based on an 800-volt electrical architecture.

Previously, Audi retained the V6 and V8 engines for the new generation Q7.
