The BMW brand will release the last copies of the 8 Series sedans, coupes and convertibles of the current G14/G15/G16 generation by the end of this month. The cars themselves are made at the company’s plant in Dingolfing, Germany. The Bavarian manufacturer says goodbye to the G8, as it does not see a future for this model.
Theoretically, the next generation of the BMW 8 Series could be built not on the CLAR platform, but on the more modern Neue Klasse electrical architecture. But the electric car market today turned out to be not promising enough, so 8-series cars may not appear at all.
The reduction in the 8-Series lineup is predictable as BMW looks to focus on its best-selling products. In the G8 range, the sedan is the most popular, so the development of its successor is the most logical. However, the complete absence of fuel engines may come as a surprise to customers.
