The General Director of the company Mate Rimatz revealed details about the hybrid system of the coupe. It turned out that the gasoline-electrical power plant with a stranger V16 weighs less than the non-gibride W16 with a turbocharged! Although the whole system with a gasoline engine, gearbox, traction battery and electric motors looks monstrous, its mass is only 430 kilograms.
It is believed that W16 with four turbines at the Bugatti Chiron hypercar weighs 436 kilograms, so weight saving is small. However, the engineers faced the goal not to yield to the predecessor in a single indicator. As a result, the equipment of Tourbillon amounted to 1995 kilograms: a kilogram less than Chiron. The atmospheric V16 itself is quite light for a working volume of 8.3 liters: only 252 kilograms.

It is easy to calculate that the T-shaped battery with a capacity of 24.8 kilowat-hours, the presettal gearbox, electric motors and wiring will be pulled only 178 kilograms. Hypercar is able to pass without activation V16 to 60 kilometers, which is excellent indicators in conditions of tightening the economy. Mate Rimatz also promises that maintenance will not become a headache of customers: all systems are very durable.
Recently, the Bugatti boss gracefully criticized hybrids with turbo engines: in his opinion, the rate on the pushing engine is a compromise itself, and it is more logical to use “atmospheres” on supercars and hypercars with gasoline-electrical systems.
