BYD’s luxury brand Yangwang will unveil a new four-seater version of the U8L SUV at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, said Hu Xiaoqing, general manager of BYD’s sales department. As experts suggest, the new product will cost more than the six-seater version, for which today they are asking about 180 thousand dollars.
BYD’s Yangwang U8 hybrid SUV is one of the most expensive Chinese cars. In turn, Yangwang U8L is an extended modification with a length of 5400 mm.
Under the hood is a two-liter turbo engine (272 hp), which acts as a generator, and the four-motor all-wheel drive has 1197 hp. and 1280 Nm. The curb weight of the vehicle is 3595 kg.
The expansion of the U8L model comes as Chinese brands begin to expand into a market historically dominated by foreign automakers.
In 2025, the Yangwang U8L ranked 15th among ultra-luxury cars with 1,538 buyers choosing it, while the standard U8 scored 1,112 units.
Both models were the only Chinese models from the top 20 representatives of the segment. Others on the list were mainly Porsche, Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz.
