Experts from the authoritative publication managed to drive the restyled version of the German brand’s flagship before the premiere. The premiere of the new product should take place in a few weeks, but interesting details, thanks to the current leak, are now known.

The top modification of the car after the upcoming update, as journalists note, will be the purely gasoline S580, which should receive a completely new 8-cylinder 4.0-liter turbo engine.

Its factory index is M177, and the main design feature will be a “flat” crankshaft. Most likely, the promising “eight” will replace the current 12-cylinder unit.

Let us add that the so-called flat crankshaft is used, as a rule, in racing engines: such a design significantly affects the exhaust sound, since it entails a special order of flashes.

Perhaps it is the special sound that engineers want to distract the public from the iconic V12. The engine will develop 537 hp. and 750 Nm: this should be enough to accelerate the sedan to 100 km/h in 4 seconds.
