Chevrolet will release an updated Silverado pickup with V8 engines

The Chevrolet brand has officially introduced a new generation of the Silverado pickup truck, which has received a fresh design, two new naturally aspirated V8s and a radically updated interior with screens in all trim levels. Sales of the pickup truck in the United States will begin at the end of 2026, prices have not yet been announced.

The main technical innovation is the new V8 engines of 5.7 liters and 6.6 liters. The company claims that the 6.6-liter unit will be the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in the full-size pickup class, but specific power and torque figures have not yet been disclosed. At the same time, other engines remain in the range: the base 2.7 petrol turbo engine is now paired not with an eight-speed, but with a ten-speed automatic transmission. Diesel 3.0 is also available to order.

The design of the new Silverado is evolutionary, but noticeably more modern: the car has LED headlights with a stepped structure, C-shaped running lights, new taillights, more prominent wheel arches. Moreover, even in the basic utilitarian configuration, the pickup received a 16-inch multimedia system screen and a 12-inch digital instrument panel.

ZR2 and High Country trims add an 11.5-inch screen for the front passenger, a head-up display and a digital rearview mirror. At the same time, physical buttons and knobs are still responsible for climate control, and the automatic transmission lever remains on the steering column.

The Silverado ZR2 off-road version features 35-inch tires, a two-inch suspension lift, and locking front and rear differentials. The interior of the ZR2 features carbon fiber decor. A more serious package is also available – the ZR2 Bison Edition tuning package from American Expedition Vehicles with reinforced bumpers, underbody protection, including axle and fuel tank housings. The new generation Silverado 1500 will be produced at GM plants in Flint, Michigan and Tonawanda, New York.
