China authorities will tighten the requirements for electric cars and hybrids

In the Middle Kingdom, more than half of the cars sold belong to the so -called new energy cars, so the problem is quite acute. New rules suggest mandatory tests for stability, overheating and fast charging. This is due to an increase in the number of incidents and the need to strengthen the protection of passengers and the environment.

China authorities decided to revise the technical standards for electric vehicles and connected hybrids. Such cars account for more than half of sales in the country, and an increase in the number of incidents with a fire of batteries forced officials to take additional measures. The Ministry of Industry and Informatization of the PRC has published updated standards providing hard safety tests. Manufacturers have to prove that the batteries of their machines are not dangerous for a certain operating time.

The document introduces new tests for the stability of batteries to shock and overheating, as well as intensive charging. The standards were approved back in March, but their text was released only now. New requirements will enter into force in July 2026, replacing the currents in 2020. Increased attention to safety is also due to the tragic case that occurred in March: Xiaomi sedan caught fire after the accident, which caused a public resonance and questioned the reliability of the electric cars of local brands.

Earlier, Russians warned that electric cars may pose a threat to non -original spare parts. According to Vladislav Mazov, the head of the ARTIS charging stations, the cause of fires often becomes saving on components and contacting dubious services. He emphasized that compliance with the basic operating rules, including the choice of trusted technical centers, significantly reduces risks.
