Dark Eagle hypersonic missile tested in Florida

The unknown rocket was launched from Cape Canaveral, which is also home to the famous spaceport where the United States launches spacecraft. Local media reported about the missile launch and the establishment of prohibited zones, which were already introduced a year ago.

“The rocket was reportedly launched on Thursday towards the Atlantic Ocean. The photo released shows a thin white contrail left by the rocket against a blue sky. There were no public statements regarding the launch, which took place at approximately 12.30 (19.30 Moscow time), ”the RIA Novosti publication notes, citing the local publication Florida Today.

The Orlando Sentinel reported that the US Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security had previously warned of the establishment of exclusion zones in air and sea space. Similar zones were introduced during past tests of hypersonic missiles launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida.

Prior to this, the Dark Eagle hypersonic missile was tested at Cape Canaveral in April 2025. The name Dark Eagle was officially given to the long-range hypersonic weapon when the Dark Eagle long-range hypersonic missile was launched at Cape Canaveral. As the publication notes, the army officially assigned the name Dark Eagle to the Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) only a few days ago.
