Dealers have warned of rising car prices in the coming months

Autostat, citing industry representatives, reports that cars of the new model year will begin to arrive in showrooms in February-March, and they will cost more than last year’s. According to estimates from dealers surveyed by the agency, the overall price change will not exceed 10-12 percent over the course of the year, but only under a neutral external background. “Prices for new cars have not yet been adjusted this year, but changes are expected over the next two months, until mid-March,” Avilon said.

At AutoSpetsTsentr, the upcoming price increase is explained by the exchange rate, logistics and inflation. Avtodrom, in turn, notes that Russian-assembled cars may begin to arrive at dealers at new prices as early as February 2025, and imported ones – in March. “The price of cars is affected by the recycling fee, but no less important is the exchange rate of the national currency, which, by the way, affects both Russian assembly and imports,” emphasized the Avtodom representative.

Russian dealers’ warehouses are overflowing with cars. Russians continue to buy premium foreign cars of European and American brands. There are almost no popular budget foreign cars left in Russia.

Avilon predicts that the price increase will affect all brands represented on the Russian market, but it will be less noticeable for brands with a high level of localized production in Russia, whose share continues to increase. These include, for example, Lada and Haval.

“The cost of cars under official franchises will increase by 6-7 percent in the first quarter, while parallel imports will rise in price faster. On average, in 2025, the cost of models will increase by 7-10 percent,” Autostat quotes an Avilon representative.

Earlier, Autostat compared the cost of cars in 2014 and 2024. If ten years ago the weighted average price of a passenger car without mileage was one million rubles, then as of mid-autumn last year it exceeded three million. In addition to the weakening of the ruble, increasing recycling rates, rising costs of logistics and global and Russian inflation, the cost of cars in Russia was affected by the departure of brands from “unfriendly” countries and, as a result, a reduction in the supply of new cars.
