In social networks, videos were encouraged when the new Dodge Charger Daytona accelerates spontaneously, although the driver does not concern pedals. At the same time, warning indicators light up on the dashboard, and the car is reluctant to slow down. It turned out that this is the Drive by Brake option.

Stellantis told reporters that we are not talking about failure, but about the new Drive By Brake security system. This function will allow the owners of electric vehicles not to “get stuck” in the middle of the lively road. If the system believes that an accelerator pedal malfunction has occurred, then the electronics intervene and allows you to control the acceleration using the brake pedal. The function works so that the driver can safely move to the side of the road. It is stated that similar functionality has been used for many years on the fuel cars of the concern.
What kind of fuel models of Stellantis are equipped with Drive by Brake is not specified. But in general, the behavior of an electric car is similar to the movement of an analogue with an internal combustion engine and an automatic gearbox: with the Drive mode, there is a slight acceleration.
