Exeed Sterra E05 served as the basis for the Russian Esteo MX

The Russian company AGR Holding and the Chinese technology supplier Defetoo presented the first car under the new Russian brand Esteo – the Esteo MX crossover. Prior to this, the partners created the brands Tenet, Tenet Plus and Jeland.

As Motor magazine stated, the Esteo MX is based on the 2025 Exeed Sterra E05 hybrid crossover. This is the closest relative of the Exeed TXL, known to Russians, which is distinguished by its original design of the front part of the body.

The base version is a modification with a 197-horsepower 1.6 TGDI turbo engine (275 Nm), a seven-speed preselective “robot” and front- or all-wheel drive.

With a two-liter turbocharged engine that produces 197 hp. and 375 Nm, only a classic eight-speed automatic transmission and a full-speed transmission are combined.

The production of Russian-Chinese crossovers Esteo MX will be undertaken by the St. Petersburg plant of an industrial holding – this is a former assembly line of the General Motors concern.

The Esteo range of cars will include traditional fuel models, as well as NEV class vehicles, that is, hybrids and electric cars. The AGR press service promises to reveal the remaining details later.

According to some reports, the original cars will be provided by the Exeed brand belonging to the Chery concern. In any case, the Exeed LX, Exeed RX and Exeed TXL are recorded in the Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) database under the Esteo brand.
