Recently, Chinese car brands have been launching production of their models at Russian car factories. Production is carried out on conveyors in St. Petersburg, Kaluga, Kaliningrad and Esipovo near Moscow. However, as car market experts note, there is no talk yet about the full localization of Chinese brands in Russia.
The main reason for localization is the desire to avoid recycling fees, says Daria Gerasimova, development director of the online car auction MIGTORG, who expressed her opinion at the round table of the Reedus publication.
“They are just interested in sales. Recycling has reached some prohibitive scale, and Chinese businessmen are quite resourceful,” Gerasimova is sure.
At the same time, eastern partners are not ready to provide full-fledged localization, when a foreign company can leave the country, and local manufacturers will continue to produce the product.
Automotive market expert Maxim Zheleznyak emphasized that the Chinese are categorically not interested in real localization, since they do not want to share technology.
