The Renaissance Insurance group and Pango Cars conducted a study in which they studied the change in the cost of used cars of Chinese brands in relation to the new ones. It turned out that cars from China lose about the same amount as European, Korean, Japanese and Russian.
In the first year of ownership, the “Chinese” losses are the same as others: on average they are cheaper by 11 percent. French cars, for comparison, lose 10.8 percent of prices, American and British – 10.1 percent, Russian – 9.5 percent. German cars are the most cheaper – by 12.4 percent.
Over the second year, Chinese cars have already lost 12.9 percent, which is a little more than cars from other countries. The “Germans” become cheaper than 12 percent, the “Japanese” – by 10.9; 10.5 and 10.1 percent lose Russian and French cars, respectively.
How the prices of popular Chinese cars in Russia have changed in Russia, a record 750 thousand “extra” Chinese cars revealed the share of the “Chinese” on the Russian car market in 2024
Further the cost of the “Chinese” slows down. The fourth year will reduce the price of 10.2 percent, while cars from Germany will lose 14.3 percent, 13 percent of Russia, 12.1 percent from France, from Japan – 12 percent, from South Korea – 11.9 percent.
However, there are other studies with completely different results. So, according to Gazprombank Autolyting, Chinese vehicles in the first year of ownership lose their price as much as 40 percent: that is, a year purchased for 2.5 million, a year later, it will be possible to sell only 1.5 million. They explain this by the fact that the Russians are still wary of the Chinese automobile industry.
