For the poor: Mercedes-Benz will release an entry-level car in 2028

The new car will replace the line of A-class cars on the assembly line. At the same time, the successor will not adhere to the usual patterns in terms of body shape.

The new model will combine the features of a compact crossover and a minivan. As Jörg Barzer, head of the Mercedes-Benz development department, said in an interview with the German publication Automobilwoche, the upcoming car will be “very attractive” and will be different from everything the brand has produced before.

This characteristic indicates the ambitious approach of the company, which plans to offer not just a replacement for some existing car, but to create a fundamentally new product to attract a young audience.

In fact, the model will become a kind of hybrid of the current Mercedes-Benz GLA and B-class. The new product will be built on the MMA (Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture) modular architecture, which also underlies the latest CLA, CLA Shooting Brake, GLA and GLB models.

The key benefit of this platform is flexibility. It allows you to create cars with a fully electric power plant, as well as with hybrid and even pure gasoline engines. This leaves the brand room for maneuver and allows the model to be adapted to the requirements of different markets.

It was previously reported that UAZ is testing new diesel models in extreme conditions.
